Michigan is one of the top ten states having a decreasing number of Certified Nursing Assistant in the US. The Department of Community Health Bureau of Health Professions is the organization incharge for reviewing CNA programs in Michigan. The Department of Community Health together with the Prometric CNA Michigan develop and administer the CNA State tests for CNA training in Michigan. Prometric also maintains the Michigan Registry, the master list, of all the certified nursing assistants in Michigan and may assists them in finding CNA jobs in Michigan.
The federal legislation of 1987 entitled the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) is being followed by the state to be sure that all CNAs in MI provide a quality care among the resident or patient.
